Big Data and Accounting

The big data and accounting program, established in 1979, has been offered for more than four decades and delivered over 3,000 outstanding graduates for the society and industries.

I. Training Objective

This program, mainly based in Shanghai and surrounding areas, is offered to cultivate highly competent workers and skilled workers for various small and medium-sized enterprises, who are morally and technically accomplished, fully fledged, adaptive to the rapid development of modern IT such as big data, IoT, mobile internet, cloud computing and AI, have good professional ethics, craftsmanship and innovative thinking, and master knowledge and technologies of intelligent finance, financial management, management accounting, tax accounting and planning, etc.

II. Distinctive Characteristics

1. Based on platforms to form a curriculum system aiming at cultivating interdisciplinary professionals

Based on the approach to training big data and accounting professionals, a curriculum system that is shared at the bottom level, separate at the middle level and mutually selective at the top level has been established to fully demonstrate the talent cultivation requirements that widen the caliber and thicken the foundation.

2. Based on 1+X certification to form a teaching model that integrates courses with certificates

As a pilot program for 1+X certification of “Golden Tax Finance” and “Finance Sharing”, the pass rate of “X” certification exceeded 95% in 2020, while the certificate contents were integrated into the normal course of teaching practice, gradually achieving course-certificate integration and credit replacement.

3. Company-school cooperation for social engagement

The big data and accounting program has established long-term close partnerships with Ritz Carlton Hotel Shanghai, Portman Ritz Carlton Hotel Shanghai, Shanghai J&J Certified Public Accountants and Shanghai Fengya Certified Public Accountants, working with them on talent cultivation model, structuring of project course system, construction of hands-on training and internship bases and faculty training by jointly formulating talent training programs, jointly constructing off-campus internship bases and jointly cultivating craftsman-like professionals much needed by industry companies.

4. On-campus hands-on training that truly reproduces workplace environments

The program is equipped with many advanced specialized practical training rooms such as financial big data center and intelligent finance sharing center, designed to fully meet the student needs for on-campus hands-on training and set up a path to talent cultivation that combines work with learning and unites knowing with doing.

5. Learning driven by competition for multidimensional improvement in students’ overall qualities

This program makes full use of the training and strengthening role of skill contests to involve students in various competitions such as national vocational skills competition, Shanghai “Starlight Cup”, Shanghai college students corporate operation simulation contest and “Net-in-Net Cup” financial decision-making skills contest, with outstanding achievements reaped in national and local competitions.

III. Faculty

Faculties of professionally-titled teachers and multi-certificated teachers have taken initial shape.

The big data and accounting program has a reasonably structured, professionally outstanding and occupationally competent faculty, now comprising 7 full-time professional teachers, and of which about 86% are professionally-titled teachers, about 100% are teachers with intermediate or senior academic titles and about 85% are teachers with Master’s degree or above; there are additionally 6 part-time teachers who are CPAs, registered tax agent and senior accountants working for companies.

IV. Core Courses

Basic accounting, financial accounting, principles and application of big data, financial and economic regulations and accounting professional ethics, ERP financial management system, intelligent cost accounting and management, digital financial management, digital management accounting, ERP supply chain management system and big data financial analysis, etc.

V. Employment options

Employable for accounting, financial data analysis, budget management, cost management, tax planning, risk management and other jobs in various SMEs, finance sharing service center, fiscal and tax intermediaries, financial institutions and NPOs.

 

Big Data and Financial Management

I. Introduction

The big data and financial management program combines data, information, performance and risk control together effectively in line with the economic development dynamics to cultivate skilled professionals who possess basic theoretical knowledge of financial management in wealth management, enterprise management, economics and finance, are capable to apply and practice new technologies, familiar with financial and economic regulations, have good professionals ethics and outstanding communicating skills and are able to engage in finance and financial management in industrial and commercial establishments, financial enterprises, public institutions and government departments.

II. Distinctive Characteristics

Faced with the game-changing situation of going digital, intelligent and global, and the rapid development of AI technology, corporate financial management going intelligent represents an irresistible trend and will profoundly impact the management model of companies. This program, fitting closely into the School’s development strategy and talent cultivation objectives, not only fosters the basic capabilities of students to analyze and solve financial management problems, but also focuses on improving the thinking approach to data analysis and business-finance integration. The big data and financial management program has many advanced specialized practical training facilities on the campus, such as integrated practical training room on corporate management and digital management, intelligent finance sharing center, practical training room on business-finance integration and big data application, and practical training base for golden tax financial application, all meant to fully meet student needs for on-campus hands-on training and set up a path to talent cultivation that combines work with learning and unites knowing with doing.

This program has established long-term close partnerships with Shanghai Aisino Aerospace Information Co., Ltd, Seentao Technology Co., Ltd, Xiamen Net-in-Net Software Co., Ltd, Shanghai J&J Certified Public Accountants and Shanghai Fengya Certified Public Accountants, working with them on talent cultivation model, structuring of project course system, construction of hands-on training and internship bases and faculty training, in a bid to jointly cultivating highly accomplished interdisciplinary professionals much needed by industries (companies).

The big data and financial management program has a reasonably structured, professionally outstanding and occupationally competent faculty, now comprising 7 full-time teachers, of whom about 90% are professionally-titled teachers, with 50% of them in possession of CPA practice license.

IV. Core Courses

Core courses include but not limited to financial accounting, digital financial management, cost accounting and management, tax law and tax filing, digital management accounting, ERP supply chain management system, principles and application of big data, financial big data analysis and visualization.

V. Employment Orientations

Graduates from this program have broad employment markets and prospects, as they are suitable for jobs like accounting, financial analysis, budget management, cost management, tax management, investment and financing management and performance management in financial departments of government entities and various businesses and public institutions as well as financial and insurance institutions, in addition to audit, tax and other jobs in accounting firms and tax agent firms. The employment rate of graduates from this program is over 98.5% each year.

 

Convention-Exhibition Planning and Management

In September 2008, amid the national movement to build demonstrative vocational and technical colleges, the School set up the convention-exhibition planning and management program, which has achieved outstanding teaching results with strong educational strength.

I. Training Objective

To cultivate highly competent skilled event professionals who are morally and professionally accomplished, fully fledged, in possession of basic theories, knowledge and skills in modern event planning and management services, innovative and practically capable, adept at practical skills such as planning, management, marketing, operations and service, familiar with laws, regulations and relevant policies regarding convention and exhibition, and able to do a good job of events business operation and management and service operation.

II. Distinctive Characteristics

This program focuses on cultivating application-oriented professionals who “are passionate, knowledgeable and capable of running events” by structuring a course knowledge system based on event management process, actively exploring possible teaching reforms for theory-practice integration and unity of knowing with doing, and developing students’ occupational capabilities and overall qualities particularly. The School has specialized practice venues such as integrated hands-on training room on events as well as a complete range of specialized facilities and equipment available for hands-on training. Meanwhile, the School maintains good partnerships with dozens of famous Chinese events companies, such that junior students have the chance of internship at off-campus internship bases of major convention and exhibition companies, specialized events companies, high-star-rated hotels and international travel agencies in Shanghai or other provinces and municipalities. Students are encouraged to participate in occupational qualification tests run by and obtain relevant certificates issued from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and China General Chamber of Commerce while studying on campus.

By integrating event management with course teaching process in a distinctive manner with fruitful results, the convention-exhibition planning and management program became the chairman of the Exhibition Planning and Management Program Sub-committee of the National Tourism Vocational Education and Teaching Steering Committee in 2016, won the grand prize of city-level teaching achievement award in Shanghai in 2017 and the second prize of the state-level teaching achievement award in 2018, and was named a first-class specialized higher vocational education program in Shanghai in 2019. In addition, this program was selected as a demonstrative program point of national vocational colleges in the category of tourism in 2017 (one of three schools so selected); initiated and undertook the preparation of the Report on Talent Demand in Events Industry and Guidance on Program Setup of Vocational Colleges in 2018; initiated and undertook the revision of the second batch of “Teaching Standards for Events Program of Higher Vocational Schools” from the Ministry of Education in 2019, thereby leading the development of the events program of vocational colleges nationwide; became the first international events industry college in China in 2022; initiated and established the national events industry and education integration consortium in 2023; and set up China’s first exhibition virtual teaching and research lab in 2023.

V. Employment Orientations

Government departments in charge of events, local events industry association, exhibition companies, convention and exhibition venues, specialized event companies, conference department of high-star-rated hotels, incentive travel department of travel agencies, wedding services, business service companies such as sales departments of major companies, and relevant jobs of corporate convention and exhibition.

 

Cultural Creativity and Planning

The cultural creativity and planning program, established in 2022 and mainly oriented towards tourism and leisure industry, cultural performing arts industry, cultural media industry and cultural museum and art venues, aims at cultivating highly competent interdisciplinary skilled professionals who have solid professional knowledge and technical skills, good cultural literacy, professional ethics, innovation awareness, strong employability and sustainability, are able to engage in cultural event planning and organization, creative script writing, new media operation and promotion, creative guidance and service on digital cultural products, basic cultural and creative product design, venue branding and corporate culture publicity

This program has an echelon-like faculty of professionally-titled teachers, comprising over 10 teachers, 90% of whom have PhD, featuring a reasonable structural proportion of intermediate and senior professional titles, and most of whom have work or practical experience in cultural museum, media and tourism-related industries, and have been constantly engaged in industry practice for improved teaching and practical abilities. Meanwhile, this program pays attention to bringing in famous industry practitioners in the fields of traditional culture, creative culture and intangible cultural heritage to deliver lectures and practice guidance to students on a regular basis.

This program gradually cooperates with Disneyland, a leading cultural and creative business One Step Garden and public institutions such as Shanghai History Museum, Fengxian District Museum and Guangfulin Cultural Relics to explore the possible establishment of off-campus hands-on training bases. Intelligent labs for cultural and creative program and cultural and creative product display and show room have been built in place on the campus to provide students with specialized and intelligent learning and practice platforms.
