Tourism English (Foreign Languages)
This program is a key program supported fiscally by the Ministry of Education and has become a nationally recognized program of “demonstrative construction”, a program under Shanghai’s “085 Program” and a “first-rated program” of higher vocational colleges in Shanghai.
I. Distinctive Characteristics
On the basis of “language + ” approach to talent cultivation, this program focuses on English language proficiency development and consists of four career-oriented modules, i.e., industry college, research education, travel agency and cross-border e-commerce; its curriculum comprises basic language course, cross-cultural communication course, tourism industry literacy course and job skills course, which are linked, coordinated and supported with each other and connected with specialized course clusters for holistic tourism industry that highlight strengths of language students. This program maintains long-term, stable partnerships with many famous tourism companies, thereby achieving an integrated cooperation model ranging from internship to apprenticeship-based employment.
After multiyear accumulation, this program has achieved remarkable results. Currently, it has four city-level awarded courses of Shanghai built in place, one city-level teacher team innovating in teaching practice, 7 city-level and school-level digital courses and multiple distinctive tourism textbooks of higher vocational education.
This program remains “internationally orientated”, pursues international experiences, and endeavors to achieve overseas hands-on training, exchange of students studying aboard and overseas employment.
II. Faculty
This program now has 9 full-time teachers, including one full professor and 2 associated professors, all of whom have Master’s degree or above and once studied or trained abroad. 3 teachers have long been participating in national or local tour guide certification exams, and 70% of these teachers are professionally-titled. Moreover, there are one permanently appointed foreign teacher and 4 guest professors (industry experts).

English intensive reading, spoken English, English listening comprehension, applied English writing, English translation, Chinese tourism culture (English), tourism cultures in English-speaking countries, cross-cultural communications, tourism service English, tour guiding business, tour guiding regulations, basic knowledge of tour guiding, and other basic language courses, core courses and career-oriented module courses (covering four directions of industry college, research education, travel agency and cross-border e-commerce).

Tourism Japanese (Foreign Languages)
This program, established in 1984 and then known as Japanese translation and tour guide program, got its present name since 2003. In 2008, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as part of the key program cluster under the national demonstrative higher vocational college construction program.

II. Faculty
There are now 9 full-time teachers, including 1 associate professor, 5 professionally-titled teachers, 2 permanently-appointed Japanese teachers and 4 guest professors (industry experts). Most of full-time teachers graduated from East China Normal University, Shanghai International Studies University, Nanjing University and Waseda University. 2 of them have work experience as international exchange employee in Japan, 4 studied in Japan and 2 once worked temporarily for international travel agencies. Professional teachers published many high-quality papers on domestically important journals as well as many state-level planned textbooks.

Applied Korean (Foreign Languages)
This program is a program offered by the School since 2006.
I. Distinctive Characteristics
With an emphasis placed on the route of international training, the program assigns 8-10 exchange students to famous Korean universities each year, such as Hanyang University, Busan University of Foreign Studies, Namseoul University and Jeonju University, with outstanding performers eligible to apply for sponsorship upon return to the home country. Moreover, the School conducts overseas top-up programs with many Korean colleges, whereby students can freely choose top-up either at home or abroad and Korean sister schools offer graduates from this program preferential policies such as simplified application and scholarships.
This program enjoys advanced and complete hands-on training facilities. Currently, there are hands-on training venues available for student to practice what they learn, such as Korean cultural experience hall, voice training room, multifunctional audiovisual and speaking center, simulated tour guide training room and multi-screen interactive classroom.
Meanwhile, students of this program can choose the “dual system” learning program in the fifth or sixth term to pursue internship at “Fosun Industry College” for in-depth learning in the industrial setting right before their graduation.
Most of students in this program would participate in “Shanghai tour guide occupational qualification certificate exam”, “Korean proficiency test and other qualification certificate exams” and “College English Test IV and VI”, in preparation for their future career activities related to Korean language and tourism.

Korean intensive reading, Korean conversation, Communicative Korean reading, listening and speaking (I) and (II), overview of tourist-generating countries, basic knowledge of tour guiding, tour guiding business, tour guiding regulations, onsite tour guiding, etc, in addition to Business Korean, a key course in Shanghai.

Tourism and exhibition reception services in Korean; Korean translation; production and administrative jobs in Korean at Chinese and Korean companies; tour operation of travel agencies; tourism consulting; education and training, etc.
Applied Spanish (Foreign Languages)
Applied Spanish is a program offered by the School since 2009.
I. Distinctive Characteristics
Aiming at cultivating professionals needed by markets and capable of sustainable development, this program focuses on foreign language teaching and is open to students majored in Spanish and minored in English, with a view to cultivating senior bilingual professionals proficient in Spanish and highly knowledgeable about social, economic and cultural aspects of Spanish-speaking countries while having intermediate English proficiency level.
In terms of practical ability, this program focuses on fostering occupational capabilities of students by making practical training rooms such as speech room, simulated tour guide training room and simulated travel agency available to students for professional training. Meanwhile, the School would assign junior students to off-campus internship bases in Shanghai or other areas for internship with companies or in jobs involving travel agency, hotel, tour guiding, education and cross-border e-commerce.
With respect to international exchanges, this program conducts a “3+2” top-up program with University of Zaragoza in Spain, whereby students of this program can apply for two-year study at the Spanish school after graduation from 3-year program to study relevant specialized courses, while those who completed required credits and meet the conditions are eligible for official Master’s degree from the Spanish side. In addition, the program conducts exchange student programs with three colleges in Spanish-speaking countries. Students of this program have the chance to pursue exchange and study at University of Zaragoza, University of Guadalajara in Mexico and Pontifical Catholic University of Chile in their second and third grades of junior college.

Cabin Crew Service
This program is a program offered by the School since 2019.
I. Distinctive Characteristics
This program is distinctive in its training objective, training model and teaching resources. The training objective is to cultivate flight attendant professionals of international background who have high political awareness, strong foreign language skills, high interpersonal communications skills and solid professional techniques. This program adopts a new approach to training flight attendant professionals, designed to create an “overpass” system of integrated vocational college education that runs through middle school, high school and university education as the approach to talent cultivation. Based on the quality requirements of this program for corresponding jobs (job groups), professional quality and competency requirements for students are determined, supported by a 5C talent cultivation model comprising “one plane with four wings” to form a capability development system centered on student, oriented towards employment and connected up by “school, company, teacher, student and society”, where five carriers (5C) of course platform, occupational certificate, competition, school and company as dual educators and considerate service are leveraged to foster professional qualities and competencies of professionals. The courses are delivered using the latest national cabin crew teaching standards, while bringing in IATA Airline Cabin Crew Certificate, course resources and course standards.
Relying on teaching resources in-house, this program has all classrooms equipped with multimedia teaching facilities to facilitate day-to-day teaching. Meanwhile, there are B737 static aviation simulation cabin, B737 passenger aircraft door exit trainer, Airbus 320 passenger aircraft door exit trainer, Airbus 320 passenger aircraft fire extinguishing trainer, crew CPT software, physical training room, fitness room, makeup experimental classroom, emergency response lab, aircraft models from global major airlines, aircraft models from four major Chinese airlines, 180-degree 3D virtual circular screen hall, multifunctional language training center etc. A complete range of facilities and real scenarios are used to deliver the practice part of courses, cognition practice, productive training, teaching practice week and on-the-job internship. An integrated aerospace teaching and training center has been built in place, about to be put into use during the “14th five-year” plan period.
This program adopts a series of textbooks developed by the industry for the main courses of cabin crew service program of higher vocational colleges, published by China Civil Aviation Publishing House and Tourism Education Press, and commonly used by cabin crew service program of colleges and universities nationwide. Meanwhile, this program adopts textbooks used for “1+X” air crew job skills certification exam sponsored by the Ministry of Education. Restricted elective courses for this program are offered with a wide range of textbooks, including textbooks developed through school-company cooperation, industry textbooks and imported authentic textbooks; optional elective courses for this program adopt classic textbooks published by famous Chinese publishing houses and self-compiled handouts.
II. Faculty
This program now has 5 full-time teachers, all with Master’s degree, including 1 associate senior professor, 2 intermediate-level teachers and 2 lecturers, all of whom are professionally-titled or qualified as such, and 75% of whom have multiyear industry experience and a large wealth of professional experience in civil aviation transportation services. In addition, there are four teachers originating from the UK, Japan, Korea and Spain each as well as 13 guest professors (industry experts).
75% of teachers in this program guided students to participate in national and local vocational skills contests, winning gold, silver and bronze prizes many times. 50% of teachers won prizes at teaching capability competitions as part of Shanghai vocational college skills contest. 20% of teachers participated in the compilation of textbooks under the local and national “11th five-year”, “12th five-year” and “14th five-year” plans. A delegation from the cabin crew service program won the second prize at the 8th and 9th “Yangtze River Delta Region Air Service Etiquette Contest” held in Shanghai for two years in a row, where 4 students won individual prizes such as “Star of Image” and “Star of Etiquette”.

Introduction to civil aviation, airway geography and civil air transportation knowledge, second language for aviation (any of Korean, Japanese, Spanish and French), civil air cabin service and management, aviation emergency response and safety practice, flight attendant manners and service etiquette training, civil air cabin English, civil aviation service English, civil air cabin service communication, physique and physical training, civil aviation job interview guidance, aviation medical aid, principles of civil aviation service management, basic knowledge of civil aviation catering, occupational image design of flight attendant, civil aviation passenger broadcasting techniques, and college English.
Online/offline hybrid digital courses existing and under development in this program include but not limited to civil aviation service English, civil air cabin English, aviation emergency response and safety practice, civil air cabin service and management, flight attendant manners and service etiquette training, and physique and physical training of flight attendants.
IV. Employment Orientations
The future employment orientations of this program include cabin crew, cabin safety, airport VIP lounge, information service, ground special passenger service, and ground support jobs in airlines and civil aviation airports, as well as cruises, high-speed railway, high-end foreign-related business and etiquette service offerings from companies.
