SIT Teachers And Students Win Prizes At The 7th National College Golf Championship 2025

From May 23 to May 30, the 7th National College Golf Championship & CSCA Golf Tournament took place at Wanning Peninsula Dunes Golf Club, Hainan, attended by over 350 teachers and students from 53 colleges from across the country, including Peking University, Tongji University, Sun Yat-Sen University and Shenzhen University.  

The SIT delegation was led by Zhou Li, a teacher of the School of Tourism and Leisure Management of SIT, with five students majored in leisure service and management participating in the contest, namely, Bao Qizhong, Liu Fugui, Gao Yuan, Xiong Jiayu and Huang Qingyan. After seven days of fierce competitions, the SIT delegation won the third place in Grade-7 group’s male team, the seventh place in female team and the sixth place in mixed group; Bao Qizhong and Gao Yuan won the first prize at the student skills competition; Liu Fugui and Huang Qingyan won the second prize at the student skills competition; Xiong Jiayu won the third prize at the student skills competition; Bao Qizhong won the honorary title of excellent athlete in the male amateur group; teacher Zhou Li won the fifth place in teacher team A, the first prize at the teacher skills competition and the honorary title of “excellent coach”.

  

 

A forum “GCCT meets the future” was held during this event, where golf program directors and teacher representatives from 53 colleges discussed the directions of golf education. The forum shared practical experience and insights encompassing topics such as specialty enrollment expansion and recommended admission policy, and athlete academic education promotion path, etc.  The form displayed classic cases such as “school-based hosting of provincial sports teams”, “all-sport compatibility” and “inclusion of teenager grade standards into local student enrollment”, released a report titled “2024 China Teenage Golf Development Report”, discussed the status, trend and issues of golf development among teenagers, and came up with solutions. In addition, roundtable discussions were set up, inviting teenager players, parents and representatives of member institutions to talk with college representatives.

This event, guided by the science education division of the General Administration of Sport, sponsored by CSCA and Dazheng Chengping (Shanghai) Cultural Communication Co., Ltd, co-sponsored by China Sport Education Alliance and organized by Hainan Wanning Peninsula Dunes Golf Club, is the highest-level and most competitive golf competition among colleges in China, successfully held seven times so far. The event is divided into Grade-9 high-level group, Grade-8 professional group (undergraduates), Grade-8 professional group (vocational colleges) and Grade-7 amateur group, with competition items including teaching skills match in teacher group, teacher stroke match, golf skills match in student group, student stroke match and group match. This event served as an arena for communication and exchanges among colleges and universities to further the all-round development of golf in interschool exchanges, talent cultivation and training competition and deliver high-quality interdisciplinary professionals for China’s golf industry.
