From November 8 to 10, sponsored by China Student Sports Federation, the 11th China College Students Golf Championship officially opened at Hainan Wanning Peninsula Dunes Golf Club, attracting 250 players from over 60 universities such as Peking University, Fudan University and Shanghai University of Sport, and becoming the largest and highest-standard one ever seen in its history.
This championship consists of three groups (i.e., super group, professional group and ordinary group) and is divided into five competitive events. Of them, the top three individuals in the super group can be certified as “master of sports” and top three individuals in the professional group can be certified as “first-class athlete”. A delegation comprising students Gao Yuan, Tang Yapeng, Yan Yichen, Huang Qingyan and Ge Shiqi from the School of Tourism and Leisure Management of SIT participated in the competition under the leadership of teacher Zhou Li, where Gao Yuan, Tang Yapeng and Yan Yichen finally successfully won the sixth place in the men’s team event.
On the first day of competition, unexpected strong winds disturbed the rhyme of many players, before high temperatures continuously challenged players’ physical ability and will in the subsequent course of competition. Although all of the delegation members are not students with sports talent, they improved their professional skills in the entire competition, accumulated experience with large events and honed the quality of perseverance through teamwork. Team members won honors for SIT with their outstanding performance and will also motivate more fellow students to seek excellence and show excellent sportsmanship in future competitions.
